The Spa Experience at Mii Amo
Mii amo doesn’t work like other spa hotels because it isn’t one. It’s a destination spa — the distinction matters. You don’t check in and hope the spa has a slot. You arrive on a Thursday or Sunday, meet your personal Journey Guide, and spend the next three to ten days inside a program built around your stated intentions. The spa doesn’t supplement your stay. It is your stay.
Set within the horseshoe embrace of Boynton Canyon — where iron-rich sandstone and quartz-laced cliffs have drawn spiritual seekers for centuries — Mii amo counts just 23 casitas and suites arranged around a courtyard compound shaded by cottonwood trees. Since reopening in 2023 after a two-year rebuild by Gluckman Tang Architects, the communal spaces — the sunken Living Room, the Journey Lounge with its library and lecture fireplace, the refreshed pool deck — feel calibrated to encourage both solitude and the kind of unhurried conversation that happens when twenty-odd strangers find themselves on parallel paths.
The Spa
The spa runs 26 treatment and consultation rooms for the 23 accommodations. The numbers tell the story: more rooms to treat you in than rooms to sleep in.
The menu covers serious ground. Conventional massage and facials share space with Native American-inspired ceremonial sessions, intuitive energy readings, CBD bodywork, sound therapy, and insight sessions specifically addressing grief, transition, and life recalibration.
Hummingbird, the signature restaurant, sources from an on-site Chef’s Garden and nearby ranches, producing wellness-focused plates that earn consistent praise from guests who weren’t expecting to enjoy “healthy food” this much.
The Crystal Grotto — a domed meditation chamber centered on petrified wood and quartz, aligned so sunlight hits the crystal on the summer solstice — is perhaps the single most distinctive space in any Arizona spa property. It’s also the detail that separates Mii amo’s audience from everyone else’s: if a solstice-aligned crystal chamber sounds compelling, you’re the right guest. If it sounds like a stretch, L’Auberge or Enchantment proper might suit you better.
The cost reflects the commitment. Three-night Journeys start around $4,600 all-inclusive — accommodation, three meals daily, spa credits, 50-plus weekly fitness classes, programming, and your Guide. Expensive by any measure, and a few recent reviews note that casita interiors haven’t entirely kept pace with the renovated communal spaces. But the guest-to-therapist ratio, the depth of programming, the Forbes Five-Star service standard, and the singular Boynton Canyon setting place Mii amo in a class very few properties in North America can credibly claim to share.
Who’s it for
Guests committed to structured, deep wellness immersion rather than a spa weekend. Solo travelers, couples at different stages of the same journey, and anyone whose therapeutic goals include grief processing, life transition, or recalibration, that conventional resort spas aren’t designed to address. Guests who find meaning in the Boynton Canyon vortex geography — one of Arizona’s most spiritually significant landscapes — rather than viewing it with skepticism. Relais & Châteaux travelers who want the designation’s service standard applied specifically to a wellness framework.
Who’s it Not for
Guests wanting a day spa, a weekend getaway, or on-demand treatment access without an all-inclusive commitment. Mii amo operates on fixed arrival days (Thursday or Sunday) with minimum three-night Journeys — there is no dropping in. Families: adults-only, minimum age 16. Guests whose wellness definition centers on thermal circuit depth or fitness breadth rather than holistic programming — CIVANA Carefree (SpaRator 8.6) or Canyon Ranch Tucson (SpaRator 9.1) offer stronger facility-to-class ratios at comparable price points. Anyone who finds the “constant enthusiasm and familiar friendliness” of highly engaged service registers as performative rather than personal (a minority TripAdvisor note in 2025/2026 reviews).
Is it Worth the Price
At $4,600+ for three nights all-inclusive, this requires a clear alignment between the investment and the intent. The all-inclusive model is transparent — no resort fee, no tipping, no stacking charges beyond additional treatments above the daily credit. Against Canyon Ranch Tucson (SpaRator 9.1, comparable all-inclusive rate, 150+ rooms, broader fitness programming), Mii amo’s premium reflects 23-casita intimacy and the Forbes Five-Star service standard applied to a wellness-only context. The SpaRator’s Value for Money score of 7.5 reflects honest accounting: the quality is real, the price is real, and the decision depends on whether the specific offering justifies the specific investment.
Pros and Cons
Pros: Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star — the world’s first for any wellness resort (February 2026). The first and only Five-Star hotel in Sedona. 26 treatment rooms for 23 accommodations. Native American-inspired ceremonial treatments, grief/transition insight sessions, and sound therapy unavailable at any comparable Arizona property. Journey Guide personal service model. Crystal Grotto — solstice-aligned meditation space. Relais & Châteaux membership. Modern Luxury #1 Best Wellness Destination in the U.S. 2025. TripAdvisor 4.8 from 811 reviews.
Cons: Three-night minimum at $4,600+ per person — the highest effective per-night rate in the SpaRator’s Arizona set. A fixed arrival schedule (Thursday or Sunday only) removes the flexibility for spontaneous bookings. Some recent reviewers note that Casita interiors do not fully match the renovated communal space quality. No day-pass or single-treatment access without an overnight stay. Adults-only (minimum 16). Cell phones and audio playback are not permitted in communal areas.
Best Alternatives
For all-inclusive wellness immersion at a lower entry price: CIVANA Carefree (SpaRator 8.6, 15 minutes from Scottsdale, KLAFS SANARIUM®, 10+ daily classes, from $400/night). For an all-inclusive destination spa with broader fitness programming: Canyon Ranch Tucson (SpaRator 9.1, two hours south, 150+ rooms, extensive structured wellness schedule). For Sedona’s closest luxury resort experience with on-demand spa access: L’Auberge de Sedona (SpaRator 8.0, creekside cottages, Paths of Possibility programming, no fixed arrival schedule).
Booking Strategy
Book direct via miiamo.com — Mii amo does not list on standard OTAs. Journey length drives the per-night equivalent down: four-night and seven-night stays carry lower per-night costs than three-night Journeys. Arrive Thursday for a three-night or seven-night Journey; Sunday for four or seven nights. State your wellness intentions clearly at booking — the Journey Guide uses this to curate your treatment and class schedule before arrival. Book any specific treatments you want (Watsu, insight sessions, ceremonial work) at the same time as the Journey — these fill up across the 26 rooms. Relais & Châteaux membership provides a booking and concierge channel with associated benefits.
Best Room Types
Casitas with private outdoor spaces facing the canyon walls are the standard configuration and the reason to book Mii amo over any other Arizona spa property. Suites with private whirlpools, outdoor showers, and in-suite massage rooms significantly enhance the experience for guests planning extended Journeys or arriving with a partner who wants private treatment capacity. The two-bedroom suite at 1,940 sq ft with a courtyard whirlpool is the most complete single accommodation in the Arizona SpaRator set for a couple-centered wellness stay.
When to Go
Year-round operation — Mii amo is open all twelve months, unlike Castle Hot Springs (closed May through October). Spring (March–May) and autumn (October–November) deliver the best combination of Boynton Canyon temperatures for hiking and outdoor wellness work. Summer (June–September) is a genuine value season: rates drop, the outdoor plunge pool is at its most appealing, and the canyon at dawn before the day heats up is as compelling as any time of year. February and March are peak — book two to three months ahead for preferred Journey dates.
Best Spa Days
A Mii amo spa day is structured rather than improvised — your Journey Guide has already built the sequence based on your stated intentions. The SpaRator recommends requesting a Native American-inspired ceremonial session or an insight session on arrival day, before the treatment menu feels familiar enough to default to conventional massage. Visit the Crystal Grotto at one of the twice-daily guided rituals rather than as a solitary drop-in — the communal element of twenty-odd strangers arriving at the same point in their respective journeys is the experience the SpaRator’s 9.5 Experience score reflects. End every day in the cedar sauna and cold plunge sequence before dinner at Hummingbird.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What exactly is Mii amo?
Mii amo is a dedicated destination spa — not a hotel with a spa attached. Operating since 2001 from its position within Boynton Canyon, it functions as a self-contained wellness retreat with just 23 guest accommodations. Everything centres on the "Journey" framework: all-inclusive stays of 2, 3, 4, 7, or 10 nights that combine spa treatments, fitness, mindfulness programming, and meals into a single package curated by a personal guide. It reopened in February 2023 after a two-year renovation and expansion.
How does Mii amo relate to Enchantment Resort?
They share the same 70-acre Boynton Canyon compound and the same ownership (Enchantment Group), but operate as distinct properties. Mii amo guests have access to Enchantment's facilities (tennis courts, Trail House, stargazing). Enchantment guests (ages 16+) can book individual spa treatments at Mii amo and access the fitness studios, Crystal Grotto rituals, Juice Bar, boutique, and Hummingbird restaurant (with reservations). The communal spa areas (pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool) are available to Enchantment guests on the day of a booked treatment, one hour before and after.
What is included in a Mii amo Journey?
All Journeys include accommodation, three meals daily at Hummingbird, a generous daily spa credit, all fitness classes (50+ per week), specialty programming and lectures, consultations, fresh juices and smoothies at the Juice Bar, welcome reception, and access to private Journey guest lounges and gathering spaces. Anything booked beyond the included credit incurs additional charges plus taxes, fees, and gratuity.
What do Journeys cost?
Three-night Journeys start from approximately $4,600 per person. Rates increase for longer stays and larger suite categories. This is all-inclusive, covering accommodation, meals, spa credits, classes, and programming. Additional treatments beyond the daily credit are charged separately.
When can I arrive?
Journeys follow a fixed arrival schedule: 3-night stays arrive on Thursdays; 4-night stays arrive on Sundays; 7-night stays arrive on Thursdays or Sundays; 10-night stays arrive on Thursdays. 2-night stays, when available, accept Sunday or Tuesday arrivals.
What is the Crystal Grotto?
A circular meditation space with an earthen floor, domed ceiling, and central pedestal of petrified wood supporting a quartz crystal illuminated by a fountain and overhead aperture. On the summer solstice, sunlight enters through the opening and strikes the crystal. Twice-daily guided rituals are held here, open to both Mii amo and Enchantment guests.
What spa treatments are available?
The menu spans massage and bodywork (deep tissue, Thai, CBD, hot stone, prenatal), facials (customized, Healthy Aging, Lymphatic), body treatments (scrubs, wraps, dry brush), and a substantial holistic offering: Reiki, energy clearing, intuitive readings, insight sessions, Native American-inspired ceremonial work, sound and light therapy, and aromatherapy with intention-setting cards. Assisted stretching and percussive therapy are also available. Skincare uses BABOR and VOYA products.
What fitness classes are offered?
Over 50 classes weekly in the 3,300-square-foot studios: vinyasa and restorative yoga, Qi Gong, Pilates, barre, aqua fitness, cardio and strength circuits, guided meditation, breathwork, and personal training. The studios overlook the Sensory Garden.
Is Mii amo suitable for couples?
Yes. Shared services for select treatments are available at $65 per person. The largest suites feature two bedrooms, a private courtyard with a whirlpool and massage room, and 1,940 sq ft of combined indoor/outdoor space. Combined Mii amo and Enchantment itineraries can be arranged for couples with different wellness preferences.
What is the age policy?
Guests must be 16 or older. There is no children's program at Mii amo (Enchantment Resort operates Camp Coyote for younger guests).
Can I visit for just a day spa?
No. Mii amo does not offer day passes. Spa services are exclusively available to Mii amo Journey guests and Enchantment Resort overnight guests. You cannot book treatments without staying at one of the two properties.
What happened in the 2023 renovation?
Designed by Gluckman Tang Architects, the renovation added seven new casitas (bringing the total to 23), expanded the spa to 26 treatment rooms (from the original layout), introduced new gathering spaces (Journey Lounge, refreshed Living Room), rebuilt the pool deck, added the Fitness and Movement Studios, and opened Hummingbird restaurant. The Crystal Grotto was refreshed but retained its original design intent.
How far is Mii amo from Sedona town?
Five miles from Uptown Sedona, roughly a 15-minute drive. The property is intentionally secluded within Boynton Canyon — isolation is part of the proposition.
Is there phone and WiFi access?
WiFi is available throughout the property. However, Mii amo actively encourages digital disconnection — cell phones and music/video playback are not permitted in communal spa and gathering areas.
What is Mii amo's Forbes Five-Star rating?
In February 2026, Forbes Travel Guide awarded Mii amo its inaugural Five-Star rating — the global luxury hospitality industry's most rigorously independent assessment. The distinction makes Mii amo the first and only Five-Star wellness resort in North America, the only Five-Star adults-only wellness resort in the world, and the first Five-Star hotel in Sedona. Forbes Travel Guide issues Five-Star ratings to fewer than 1% of hotels assessed globally. Mii amo is also a Relais & Châteaux property — the two designations together represent the highest hospitality quality signals in their respective rating systems.
