Ocean Key's strength is SpaTerre's treatment depth: Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage and Voya organic seaweed treatments sit on a priced menu, and guests rate the stay among the Keys' best-reviewed. Its location is distinct: oceanfront Zero Duval Street, no beach. The limits: no confirmed sauna, steam room or lounge, no classes, and a mandatory 25% spa fee on every service. Spa Treatments
SpaTerre's menu, from Lomi Lomi massage to Voya seaweed baths, ties for the best-scored treatments among the Keys spas we have reviewed. Lomi Lomi runs 80 minutes for $235, alongside the Voya seaweed line. That puts it level with Playa Largo, with the other six Keys spas between 6.0 and 8.0 and a median of 6.85. Amy and Justice are each named by four reviewers over more than a year. The menu has no nails, no salon and no 60-minute massage.
Spa Facilities
SpaTerre names one wet feature, Japanese soaking tubs sold as a paid ritual, and lists no sauna, steam room or lounge. A Ritual Bath runs 25 minutes for $70. It sits fourth of the seven Keys spas we have reviewed, against a median of 4.8 for the other six. Three spa guests describe using the Japanese soaking tub, and no reviewer describes a sauna, steam room, lounge or lockers.
Wellness Programs
Ocean Key offers a fitness center and one guests-only pool but no fitness classes. Its fitness center is included in the $69 nightly fee and has cardio machines, a cable crossover, dumbbells and a stretching area. That is the lowest score of the seven Keys spas we have reviewed, against a 6.4 median for the other six. Guests call the gym small, and the hotel's own text sends class-seekers to other hotels.
Staff & Service
Staff at Ocean Key draw far more praise than complaint, and front-desk problems, the most common gripe, are rare. Front-desk complaints come from 13 of the 564 reviews. Across 564 written stay reviews over the past two years, 353 praise the staff and 37 complain. That is second of the seven Keys spas we have reviewed. Management answers nearly every review, and guests describe a partial resort-fee credit and a room change as recovery.

Guests rate stays at Ocean Key highly, second only to Little Palm Island among the Keys spas we have reviewed. TripAdvisor guests average 4.60 in 2026, up from 4.53 in 2025. SpaTerre is the reason to book Ocean Key for spa: a priced menu that reaches Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage and Voya seaweed treatments, and guest ratings that trail only Little Palm Island among the Keys spas we have reviewed. The wet side is thin.
The Spa, Specifically: SpaTerre
SpaTerre is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and books by phone or email rather than an online engine. The menu prices services in five groups: massage, facial, Hydrafacial, body treatments and enhancements, with real depth at the top: Lomi Lomi at 80 minutes for $235, Voya organic seaweed baths and body treatments, and a SpaTerre Signature Facial (see our guide to spa facials) at 50 minutes for $165. Every price is a starting price before the mandatory 25% spa amenity fee, so the $155 Nautical Compass massage becomes $193.75 before any tax. The hardware is the honest gap: Japanese soaking tubs are booked as a 25-minute, $70 ritual bath, and the hotel names no sauna, steam room, relaxation lounge or locker room. Who’s Right, Who’s Wrong
Right for couples and friends who want a deep treatment menu and a well-reviewed Key West stay at Zero Duval, without needing a thermal circuit. Wrong for anyone booking a spa hotel for wet facilities, fitness classes or a spa day built around a sauna and steam room. The trade-off is the price: peak nights sit among the Keys’ dearest, while the spa is best built as a treatment plus the town, not a resort-spa destination.
Where It Sits in the Florida Keys Market
Among the seven Keys spas we have reviewed, SpaTerre ties with Playa Largo for the best Treatments score, and the stay’s guest ratings trail only Little Palm Island. The gap is hardware and programming: Ocean Key’s Wellness score is the lowest of the seven, and its Facilities score sits fourth. Value is fourth, with the highest resort fee among the five Keys hotels that publish one and a mandatory 25% spa fee. In short, this is a hotel-versus-spa gap: better treatments than the facilities support, at a premium address.

Yes for a treatment-led Key West stay: typical all-in nights run $470 to $990 across the year, fee and tax inside, plus the 25% spa fee. No for a sauna, steam room, classes or an on-site beach.

January to March are the peak months, with March dearest. June to August are usually the cheapest, August lowest. October to December and April to May sit in between.
