SpaTerre's menu wins almost every guest who books it, with 18 of 19 treatment guests positive, beside a private Gulf beach and six free weekly classes. Every thermal session is paid, including the cold plunge sold with the infrared sauna. The catch: a taxed $57 fee, $44 valet, no 60-minute massage, couples cannot book side by side online, and Sunday or Monday treatments are not promised. Right for beach guests who want a good treatment; wrong for anyone choosing the hotel for included thermal access.

No sale, operator change or repositioning has happened since the resort reopened in November 2024, and a pricing review applies if the hotel publishes a spa access rule or treatment-room count, changes the $57 fee or the $44 valet, or puts August and September 2027 nights on sale (the spa menu runs 25, 50 and 80 minutes, no 60, so the $185 50-minute massage works out to about $222 for 60 minutes).
Spa Treatments
SpaTerre's priced menu wins almost every guest who books it, but in-room massage is for Gulf Tower suites only. Eighteen of 19 guests describing a treatment are positive. The 50-minute massage starts at $185, about $222 an hour, level with the typical $225 across 59 other spa hotels. Teresa is named seven times. Couples cannot book side by side online: the December 2025 menu prices a couples massage, but the booking engine lists none. In-suite massage is sold only to Gulf Tower suite guests, at an extra fee.
Spa Facilities
At SpaTerre, every hot and cold element is a paid session, so a stay here buys no thermal access. At 4,500 square feet, it is the second-smallest of 45 published footprints and the smallest of the three Naples spas that publish one. Soaking-tub ritual at $80, infrared sauna, cold plunge and seaweed bath are all paid, with no steam room. Three guests from January to September 2026 called the facilities limited, and none describes the cold plunge. No treatment-room count is published, so group and couples bookings cannot be judged.
Wellness Programs
LaPlaya's free beach yoga and fitness classes are a real schedule, though water sports and boat trips cost extra. Six free classes a week alternate mornings: beach yoga on the sand and Functional Fitness on the Gulf Lawn. The typical spa hotel includes about one class a week across the 47 other hotels we have rated, and LaPlaya's six beat 29 of them. Guests rarely write about the classes, so attendance is unknown. Water-sports rentals and boat excursions cost extra, and golf is off-site.
Staff & Service
Staff at LaPlaya draw far more praise than complaint, with housekeeping and the front desk the places service slips. Across 274 stays, 10.6% lead with a service complaint, 29 in all, a little lower than the typical 11.5% across the 21 other spa hotels we measure the same way. Thirty-nine guests name the beach and tiki server Samoy, from November 2024 to June 2026. In May 2026, guests reported rooms cleaned only every other day and no turndown, and a handful of stays describe front-desk slips.
Experience
Guests at LaPlaya rate the stay well, though the ratings have eased every year since the 2024 peak. TripAdvisor's 4.5 across 4,127 reviews covers every year since the resort opened, while guests over the past two years average 4.49 of 5. That reading sits a touch higher than the typical 4.47 across the 21 other spa hotels we measure the same way. TripAdvisor stay-year averages have fallen from 4.65 for 2024 to 4.46 for 2025 and 4.38 for 2026 through September.
Value for Money
A peak night at LaPlaya carries lighter fees than most spa hotels, yet every spa session is billed on top. Our 27 Feb 2027 check: $1,671.66 all-in, with 15.4% in fees and tax. Peak stays add 19.6% across 55 other spa hotels, and LaPlaya is lighter than all but 14. Booking.com guests rate value 7.3 across 75, every treatment carries a 22% service fee, and guests cite the $44 valet most. Price the spa on top of the room, and thermal sessions separately.

About This Hotel
LaPlaya sells a beach-and-golf resort, and the beach earns it. SpaTerre is smaller than the pitch suggests, but its treatments are quietly excellent: 18 of 19 guests who describe a treatment walk out praising it, on a menu that prints every price.
The Spa, Specifically: SpaTerre
SpaTerre sits in 4,500 square feet on the Bay Tower’s third floor, with a priced menu that spans massage, facials, body and nails and no published treatment-room count. SpaTerre’s December 2025 menu prices the 50-minute massage at $185 and skips the 60-minute step entirely, while the 110-minute Javanese Royal Treatment runs $350. Its distinctive items are Japanese: a 25-minute soaking-tub ritual at $80 and a seaweed bath at $90, the Japanese soaking tradition sold as a bookable ofuro. The infrared sauna follows the same shape at $35 for 25 minutes. And that is the catch: the tubs, the sauna and the cold plunge are all paid sessions, not open access — a reminder of how a hydrotherapy circuit works. There is no steam room or salt room. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the open days unconfirmed, and a 22% service fee is added to every treatment. Guests almost all praise the treatments, and therapists Teresa and Fernando come up again and again.
Who’s Right, Who’s Wrong
LaPlaya is right for the beach-led guest who wants one or two very good treatments without leaving the resort. Samoy, the beach and tiki server 39 guests name, the private Gulf beach and six free classes are the product. Treat the spa as a well-run add-on, not the reason to come. It is wrong for the guest flying in for a spa with included hot and cold, a large footprint, or a published room count, and wrong for anyone expecting the housekeeping and front desk to be flawless at this price.
Where It Sits in the Naples Market
LaPlaya’s 4,500-square-foot SpaTerre is the smallest of the three Naples spas that publish a footprint, against 30,000 at Naples Beach Club and 24,000 at JW Marriott Marco Island. It holds up on the treatment record, with named therapists and almost no unhappy treatment guests, and it has a cold plunge, six free classes and a lighter peak premium than most. It falls short on hardware: every thermal element is a paid session where the Four Seasons includes its own, and the hotel publishes no treatment-room count. Against The Ritz-Carlton, Naples (the market benchmark) with 32 treatment rooms and a gated circuit, LaPlaya counters with a Javanese Royal and Japanese bathing rituals.

Worth it for a beach-led stay. A typical night runs $1,070 to $1,330 all-in on the cheapest public rate, fee and tax included, which buys a private Gulf beach, six free classes, praised treatments and a cold plunge you book by the session. Wrong for anyone choosing on included thermal access.

February and March are peak. October to December are the cheapest stretch. April to July sit between. A peak night runs about 1.75 times a low-season night and 1.17 times a middle-month one. A middle-month night runs about 1.5 times a low one. Friday and Saturday check-ins run about 12% above Tuesday and Wednesday, nearer 19% in peak months and almost flat in autumn. Christmas week runs about 1.9 times an ordinary December night. Spa prices are the same any day. Cancellations need 24 hours' notice.

LaPlaya sits at 9891 Gulf Shore Drive on Vanderbilt Beach in Collier County, right on its own private Gulf beach for guests and members only. Southwest Florida International Airport is about 35 minutes by car, and there is no airport shuttle, so a car, rideshare or taxi is needed; the Naples Trolley pick-up is included in the resort fee.

Helene and Milton closed it again in autumn 2024. The towers and BALEEN reopened 1 November 2024 and the Beach House's upper floors 16 January 2025, with 20 ground-floor rooms having no stated completion date. Guests in December 2024 found the spa and gym still closed.
Is LaPlaya Good for Families?
LaPlaya is family-friendly but not kid-focused: four pools open to all ages, a private beach, no kids club, BabyQuip gear delivery and a family activities program. Families get a beach resort without organized children's programming.
