About
The Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach opened in 2010 as the centerpiece of the Beach Walk waterfront revitalization — a beachfront tower of roughly 286 rooms and suites, many with full kitchens. In 2025, it was named Best Resort in Florida by Condé Nast Traveler in the Readers’ Choice Awards.
The Spa, Specifically
Sandava Spa occupies the resort’s seventh floor: eight treatment rooms, including couples rooms, and a relaxation room with windows over the Intracoastal waterway.
The treatment menu is eco-conscious and built around multi-hour packages — the roughly three-hour Wellness Journey, pairing a body scrub, an aromatic massage, and a hydrating facial, is the centerpiece — and the spa adheres to the Clean Beaches Council’s Blue Wave Ethics program. Its genuine point of difference is delivery: treatments can be taken in a beachfront cabana or in the guest’s room, an option few competitors match.
But there is one significant gap that shapes the score. Sandava Spa has no sauna, no steam room, no whirlpool, and no thermal circuit of any kind — the only hot tub on the property sits on a separate rooftop terrace. For a property that carries “Resort & Spa” in its name, the spa is a treatment-room operation with no wet experience attached.
Who’s Right, Who’s Wrong
Book the Hyatt Regency for the resort — a prime Clearwater Beach address, spacious suites with kitchens, and a guest-satisfaction record strong enough to win Condé Nast Traveler’s top Florida resort honor. A treatment in a beachfront cabana is a real pleasure here.
Book elsewhere if the spa is the reason for the trip: with no sauna, steam room, or whirlpool, Sandava Spa cannot anchor a spa-led stay. Value-focused guests should also weigh the dated rooms against peak rates plus a resort fee, parking, and separate beach-chair charges.
Where It Sits in the Market
On Clearwater Beach, the Hyatt Regency sits just below the resort-spa cluster led by the benchmark Sandpearl Resort. Sandpearl, the Wyndham Grand, and the Opal Sands Resort all offer at least some thermal or wet provisions; Sandava Spa offers none, and that is what sets it apart. As a beachfront resort, the Hyatt Regency competes strongly — its Condé Nast Traveler award outranks its neighbors’ shelves. As a spa hotel specifically, it trails them. The Don CeSar leads the wider Tampa Bay market on spa scale.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Where is the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach, and how far is the airport?
It is at 301 S Gulfview Boulevard on Clearwater Beach. St. Pete–Clearwater International (PIE) is the closest airport at about 13 miles; Tampa International (TPA) is about 21 miles and a 45-to-55-minute drive.
What does Sandava Spa include?
Sandava Spa occupies the seventh floor with eight treatment rooms, including couples rooms, and a relaxation room overlooking the Intracoastal waterway. It also offers outdoor cabana treatments and in-room treatments.
Does the spa have a sauna, steam room, or whirlpool?
No. This is the spa's main limitation: Sandava Spa has no sauna, steam room, or whirlpool, and no thermal circuit. It is a treatment-focused spa. The resort's only hot tub is on the 16th-floor Sky Terrace, separate from the spa.
What are the signature spa treatments?
The menu leans eco-conscious and organic. Multi-hour packages anchor it — the roughly three-hour Wellness Journey pairs a detoxifying body scrub, an aromatic massage, and a hydrating facial. Outdoor cabana treatments are a distinctive option.
Can non-guests book the spa?
Yes. Sandava Spa is open to non-hotel guests by reservation. Treatments can also be booked as outdoor cabana or in-room sessions.
Is gratuity added to spa services?
A service charge is standard at the spa, but the exact percentage is not published — confirm at booking.
Is there a resort fee?
Yes — $35 per room per night. It covers WiFi, bottled water, the fitness and business centers, a nightly in-room movie, a daily pool snack, two one-hour bike rentals, and a 50% discount on a beach chair-and-umbrella set.
Are beach chairs included?
No. Beach loungers and umbrellas are charged separately — roughly $30 to $35 per day — though the resort fee includes a 50% discount on a two-chair set.
Is parking free?
No. Self-parking is about $36 per night and valet about $40, both in a covered garage. EV charging stations are available in the garage.
What dining is on-site?
Five outlets: SHOR American Seafood Grill, the signature restaurant; the Tropico Rooftop Cantina by the pool; the OffSHOR craft-cocktail bar; SHOR2Go for grab-and-go and in-room dining; and a lobby Market with Starbucks coffee.
Is the resort family-friendly?
Yes. The suite layouts with full kitchens suit families, and there is a dedicated children's pool plus pool activities and s'mores. Pets are not allowed.
Was the resort affected by the 2024 hurricanes?
Clearwater Beach was hit by Hurricanes Helene and Milton in late 2024; the resort's ground-floor retail was boarded up afterward. The property is fully operational in 2026, though the pool underwent renovation work in early 2026 — verify current pool status when booking.
