About
Opal Sol opened on Valentine’s Day 2025 — a 16-story, all-suite tower on Clearwater Beach, and the newest resort in the Tampa Bay spa market. It is the curved-glass sister to Opal Sands next door, linked by a skybridge, and its Opal Spa holds the only Himalayan salt room in the market.
The Spa, Specifically
The Opal Spa at Opal Sol is the more interesting of the two Opal spas on Clearwater Beach. Its centerpiece is a full-service Himalayan salt room — a salt-lined relaxation room that no competing spa in the Tampa Bay area offers — open to spa guests of both Opal resorts and to outside guests who book a treatment.
The setting features a biophilic design with live-edge wood, plantings, and water features, and the spa opens directly onto a pool deck with an outdoor pool and hot tub. The treatment menu is the shared Opal Collection list — “Journeys” rituals, massages, facials, HydraFacial, CBD-infused body work — competent and contemporary, the same as Opal Sands.
A 20% service charge applies, and the spa is for guests aged 16 and over.
Who’s Right, Who’s Wrong
Book Opal Sol for a brand-new, all-suite Gulf-front stay with real space — studios from about 450 sq ft, multi-bedroom suites, in-suite hot tubs and kitchens in select units — and the market’s only Himalayan salt room for an unhurried spa afternoon. It suits families, groups, and travelers who like a property fresh out of the box.
Book elsewhere if you want a proven, fully documented spa with a complete thermal circuit, or a settled operation: early reviews still flag confusion around booking and room assignment, and self-parking is not an option.
Where It Sits in the Market
Opal Sol is the newest member of the Opal Collection’s Clearwater Beach cluster, alongside Opal Sands and the Sandpearl Resort benchmark. Its Himalayan salt room is the most distinctive single spa facility in that cluster — and in the wider Tampa Bay scope.
Against Sandpearl, the benchmark holds the more proven and fully documented spa; Opal Sol counters with the salt room and a brand-new all-suite product. Against skybridge-linked Opal Sands, the two are close peers — Opal Sol has the better spa, Opal Sands the more settled operation and the cantilevered oceanfront pool. The Don CeSar still leads the market on outright spa scale.

Where is Opal Sol, and how far is the airport?
It is at 400 Coronado Drive on Clearwater Beach. St. Pete–Clearwater International (PIE) is about 15 miles and 25 to 30 minutes; Tampa International (TPA) is about 23 miles and 35 to 40 minutes.

Is Opal Sol an all-suite resort?
Yes. All 248 units are suites, ranging from studios of about 450 sq ft to three-bedroom suites near 1,500 sq ft. Every suite has a full Gulf-view balcony, and select suites add in-unit hot tubs, outdoor showers, and full kitchens.
What is the skybridge?
A glass-enclosed pedestrian skybridge links Opal Sol to its sister property, Opal Sands. Guests of either resort cross freely and use both properties' amenities — four pools, two Opal Spas, and ten dining outlets in total.

Yes. Spa facilities are limited to guests aged 16 and over. Salon services are available to younger guests when accompanied by an adult.

Yes. The spa adds a 20% service charge automatically to every service. Any further gratuity is at the guest's discretion.
Is there a resort fee?
Yes — $35 per night plus tax. It covers WiFi, two bottled waters, in-room coffee, a per-floor guest pantry, pool and beach towel service, the fitness center, two bicycles per day, and local calls.
Is parking free?
No. Parking is valet-only — there is no self-parking option — at roughly $42 per vehicle per night. The on-site garage has more than 500 spaces.
What dining is on-site?
Four outlets are open: Drift, the signature seafood-and-pasta restaurant; Toast for breakfast; the Current pool bar; and the Beach Market Café. Two more — Lolita's Coastal Cocina and the Float ice-cream parlor — are due in 2026. Guests also reach Opal Sands' restaurants via the skybridge.
Is Opal Sol family-friendly?
Yes — the all-suite layout, with multi-bedroom options and in-suite kitchens, suits families and groups. Note that the spa itself is for guests aged 16 and over.
