TradeWinds Island Grand is a 381-room family beach resort on 28 acres with five pools and a three-story slide, and its spa is a small one down the beach. BodyWorks Spa sits at RumFish Beach, a short walk along the sand, running from a temporary room during a renovation, and the only priced menu is dated Nov 2023. Spa Treatments
Guests book massage with one of two therapists in a temporary room at BodyWorks Spa, at RumFish Beach. The Coral Room menu runs Classic, Classic/Deep Combination, Deep Tissue/Sports and Warm Stone. The Nov 2023 menu prices a 50-minute Classic at $100 and a 50-minute facial at $135, but the booking pages for the temporary room offer massage only, so the facial cannot be booked there. Two August 2025 guests praised their massages, one of them a deep-tissue session.
Spa Facilities
The spa is one temporary treatment room, and no sauna, steam room or cold plunge is listed. The renovation runs on with no end date, and nobody publishes a room count, size or relaxation lounge. The resort has five pools and two whirlpools, none of which belong to the spa. Guests report the limits: one in February 2026 found spa services unavailable, and one in August 2025 found it closed and was moved to a makeshift location.
Wellness Programs
Wellness here runs on a 24-hour fitness center and open recreation, much of it inside the nightly resort fee. The RumFish Beach fitness center opens around the clock on either hotel's room key, and the $55-a-night fee also covers the three-story High Tide Slide and daily activities, though no weekly class count is published. Spa treatments sit outside that fee and add a 20% gratuity to every service. What the fee buys is a family playground, not a wellness program.

Guests praise the staff far more than they complain, but elevator outages and broken fixtures come up in the reviews. In the guest reviews, 245 praise the staff against 19 complaints, while those elevator and fixture issues surface in about one review in twenty. Stays since the November 2024 reopening draw high guest ratings, led by praise of the staff, with dated rooms the main complaint. About one review in sixteen calls the rooms dated, the one soft note in an otherwise healthy record.

A peak-season Saturday night at TradeWinds is the fifth cheapest of the 46 Florida coastal hotels SHF has priced. A $55 fee plus 13% tax adds about a quarter to the room rate, and the spa adds a 20% gratuity. At the Nov 2023 menu's $100 50-minute Classic, the 60-minute equivalent is $120, and no 60-minute massage is sold. Who’s Right, Who’s Wrong
Right for a family beach holiday on St. Pete Beach: a kids camp for ages 5 to 12, paddleboats, daily activities, and a massage as an extra rather than the point. Wrong for a spa-first trip. The spa is one small room. It has no heat or cold facilities, and it has no thermal circuit. Its only priced menu is old. Wrong too for anyone who would rather not read about elevator outages and broken fixtures, which come up in the reviews.
Where It Sits in the Tampa Bay Market
TradeWinds Island Grand plays a different game from the Tampa Bay spa set. A peak-season Saturday night is the fifth cheapest of the 46 Florida coastal hotels SHF has priced, and guests rate stays above the middle of those hotels. The spa is the weak point of the stay, a temporary room with an old menu. This is a family beach resort first, and anyone weighing it against the full-service spas around Tampa Bay is measuring the wrong property.
