TradeWinds Island Grand is a 381-room family beach resort on 28 acres of St. Pete Beach — five pools, a three-story waterslide, and an activity roster built for kids. It is a genuine family playground. The spa here is a minor, almost incidental amenity.
The Spa, Specifically
BodyWorks Spa — also styled Body Works Salon & Spa — is a small, appointment-only operation, and an honest review has to be plain about its scale. It runs roughly two treatment rooms, and after the 2024 hurricanes, it appears to have consolidated to the sister RumFish Beach property next door; the resort’s own pages now point spa guests there. There is no sauna, no steam room, no whirlpool, and no relaxation lounge — the property’s hot tubs are general pool-deck whirlpools, not spa facilities.
The treatment menu covers massages, facials, and nail services using Eminence Organics products, and the one genuine signature is the Beach Massage, given in a private cabana on the sand. Individual therapists are well-reviewed, and the spa’s small TripAdvisor listing is rated highly — but based on only about 30 reviews.
Hours are limited and variable, and couples treatments are arranged only by phone. This is a treatment service tucked inside a vast family resort, not a spa destination, and the SpaRator score reflects that directly.

Book TradeWinds Island Grand for a family beach holiday. With five pools, a three-story waterslide, a seasonal floating water park, a Kids Camp, paddleboats, mini golf, and a packed daily activity roster, it is one of the strongest family-resort choices on St. Pete Beach — and a beach massage in a cabana is a pleasant add-on to that trip.
Book elsewhere if the spa is a meaningful part of the plan. BodyWorks Spa is a two-room service at the sister property, not a spa worth traveling for, and the steep resort fee will frustrate guests expecting destination-spa value.
Where It Sits in the Market
TradeWinds Island Grand sits near the bottom of the Tampa Bay SpaRator ladder, close to the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay — and for the same reason: it is a capable hotel without a real spa.
As a family beach resort, it is a strong, established choice; as a spa hotel, it does not compete with the Sandpearl Resort benchmark, The Don CeSar, or the Clearwater Beach cluster.
Families who want a genuine beach resort with an actual spa attached should look first at Sandpearl, a mile up the coast in spirit if not in geography.
